Decanter Centrifuge Is an Irreplaceable Drilling Fluids Solids Separation Device in Solids Control System

Decanter centrifuge is an irreplaceable sludge dewatering equipment used in various industries, such as the chemical, oil & gas, food, pharmaceutical, mining, machinery and environmental protection industries, especially used in solids control system in oil & gas drilling field.

In the oil drilling fluids solids control system, the drilling mud centrifuge is used for recovery of the barite, cleaning the fine solid phases, decreasing the volume of solid phases in the drilling mud and guaranteeing the performance of drilling mud.

Usually at Least 2 Sets of Decanter Centrifuge Should Be Used for 1 Drilling Rig

The first centrifuge with middle speed acting as the fourth phase solids control equipment. It is used for recovery barite. Barite is an expensive material for drilling mud. A good barite recovery centrifuge can help reduce drilling cost.

The second centrifuge will be used for treatment of the drilling cuttings. Usually, for OBM and SBM, it is used after vertical cuttings dryer. For WBM, after high-G shaker, it is used to cover useful drilling mud from drilling cuttings.

How does Hydraulic Coupler of Decanter Centrifuge work?

Hydraulic coupler mounted on main motor, it is a hydrodynamic transmission device, having the function of buffering starting shock, reducing starting current and overload protection. It consists of shell, turbine, pump wheel, input shaft, output pulley; shell is joined with turbine, output pulley connected with shell; input shaft connected with pump wheel, working oil filled into the shell, pressure emerges in service oil caused by centrifugal force when motor axle drives turbine to rotate, in this way, power is transmitted. Motor’s no-load starting can achieve when motor starts up at a lower speed because less liquid pressure and smaller drag exist at this time when reaching its rated rotational speed, oil pressure increase and drive load to rotate, this is coupler’s buffering starting shock principle. When load is too heavy, speed differential between pump wheel and turbine increase, oil is heated immediately, melt able plug in the coupler will be melted when oil temperature exceeds 120°c, oil sprays out to make input separate from output, thus main motor is protected and it is made sure that no burn occurs, oil is the media of transmission, so its performance will influence coupler’s working condition. Replace the oil as required.
