Detailed Introduction of Three Kinds of Drilling Mud Pumps in Solids Control System

The pumps always provide power for the solids control equipment in the drilling fluids purification system. Usually, we use three kinds of pumps in drilling mud solids control system, they are shear pump, centrifugal pump and submersible slurry pump. They are the impetus for different equipment.

Centrifugal Pump

The drilling fluids centrifugal pump plays a very important role in drilling fluids solid control system, mainly used in extracting the drilling fluids which has viscosity and has solid particles. Centrifugal pump is the ideal equipment to provide impetus for desander, desilter and jet mud mixer. The drilling fluids is a kind of suspension liquid which has a large number of solid particles and all kinds of chemical additives, therefore the material of impeller and volute are required to have enough wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Most of the impellers of centrifugal pumps are open. The drilling mud centrifugal pump is processing drilling fluids with various solid particles and chemicals. It is mainly suspending liquid then the pump impeller and casing should be more durable and have high anti-corrosive capability.

Submersible Slurry Pump

Submersible slurry pump is with structure of vertical single stage and single suction system overhung centrifugal pump, it is made of abrasion-resistant alloy, it can convey medium with high concentration particle. There is no bearing and Gland Seal between impeller and pump body, so the slurry pump is maintenance-free and heat-resistant, the slurry pump is the ideal centrifugal pump for solids control system.

Shear Pump

Shear pump is the newly improved and developped high efficiency centrifugal pump based on the centrifugal pump theory, it is the equipment which can rapidly configure and process drilling fluids in solids control equipment matching system.

The main use is to shear polymer clay when allocating drilling fluids, it can effectively mix and fully hydrate all the materials in drilling fluids, save the drilling materials, shorten the time of drilling fluids allocation and provide good-performance drilling fluids for drilling processes.
