The decanter centrifuge is indispensable solids control equipment for separating particles in drilling mud solids control system. It is used in separating suspension of solid phase with particle diameter ≥2μm for drilling mud and fluids handling. Ruggedly built for oilfield and industrial services, it is especially effective in environmentally sensitive areas. It delivers high fluid-recovery rates and efficient solids control to significantly reduce the costs of makeup fluids and disposal. The centrifuge must test the dynamic balance for smooth operation over long periods. Speed ranges from 0 to 3900 RPM, and centrifugal forces reach up to 3000G.
 

But some problems may happen when decanter centrifuge is working in drilling fluids solids control, how to deal with them ?

1. Minimize the need for gears or belts to drive the centrifuge.

2. Control and maintain speed during the decanting process.

3. Develop high torque at very low speeds.

4. Two motor applications, one for the bowl and one for the scroll.

5. The bowl has a very high-reflected inertia.

6. The scroll is usually in continuous regeneration, as it runs at a slower speed than the bowl and is pulled along.

7. Torque limiting on the scroll is very important.

8. Some configurations require zero-speed operation of the scroll ( differential gearbox ).

9. Dynamic braking or regenerative modules may be required if the bowl is NOT driven by a drive.

10. Explosion-proof environments.

There used to be 3 overload safety protection on KOSUN Series Centrifuge. One is the safety protection device of the gear box, second is the hydraulic coupler overload protection, third is the control panel with over currency protection. Nowadays as we change the drilling centrifuge structure there are 2 protections. One is hydraulic coupler overload protection to protect the bowl and the other is control panel protection to protect the screw conveyor.
