Installation Tips of Drilling Fluids Desander for Solids Control System

Nov 15, 2013

Desander separator is hydrocyclone separator in drilling mud processing. They can be separated to be two equipment as well as can be combined with shale shaker as a mud cleaner. The desander is the two-level solids control equipment used for drilling fluids treatment. The desander and desilter is mainly used for separating those solid particles with the granularity ranging from 45 to 74 μm in the drilling fluids.

Installation Tips of Drilling Fluids Desander

1. Do not apply grease to the metal seals installed to the filtering cylinder and cap, due to the reason that grease contains some unwanted particles that might erase the surface of seals.

2. Once the day-work has been done, the filter should be removed and checked in time.

3. Visually inspect the interior of filter.

4. Check the wall thickness of key parts of the desander every 6 hours.

5. It is advisable to prepare a spare filter.

6. Maximum pressure differential should not exceed 450psi (3MPa).

7. A sudden fall of the pressure differential shows that the filter has been damaged, it is advisable to stop operating and change to another one.

8. Prepare filter and O-ring in reserve.

9. Once the filter has been removed, immediate clean of equipment is required to avoid the undesirable deposit of sands.

10. If the filter has been sucked by grease, then the filter should be removed and cleaned by high-pressure steam.
