Drilling mud decanter centrifuge is a horizontal decanting solids control equipment with continuous operation. The drilling fluids decanter centrifuge is used to remove solid particles entrained in suspension to get cleared drilling fluids, it is can be used in dewatering industry as well.

Nowadays, the drilling fluids decanting centrifuge holds an increasingly high position in environmental protection field. However, flocculant, a high molecular polymer or named PAM scientifically, is one of important factors that affect the performance of drilling fluids decanter centrifuge. The flocculant or PAM exists in three forms: cation, anion and nonionic. Each of the three forms has its certain flocculation effect to any material which has been used to better sludge treatment result when drilling fluids decanter centrifuge holds this. It is worth noting that the selection of flocculant usually depends on its own conception as well as the character and PH degree of sludge to be processed. Despite its high operation performance, regular maintenance or cleaning of drilling fluids decanter centrifuge are still necessary. Regular cleaning of supernatant reflux pipe and screw pump is the effective way to reduce solids content of supernatant and the damage of drilling fluids decanter centrifuge.
 

Decanter Centrifuge
 

In basic terms, the drilling fluids decanter centrifuge contains a solid cylindrical bowl rotating at a high speed, while inside the bowl has a scroll or screw conveyor rotating at a slightly different speed. The differential speed between bowl and scroll provides the conveying motion to collect and remove the solids which accumulate at the bowl wall.

A slurry of drilling fluids and suspended solids is fed along the center line to some fixed position within the bowl and is accelerated outwards to join the pond of liquid held on the wall by the centrifugal force. The same force then causes the suspended solids to settle and accumulate at the bowl wall. The clarified liquid then flows along the bowl to leave at one end of it over some kind of weir design which sets the level of liquid surface in the bowl.

The other end of the bowl is sloped inwards towards the center thus providing a beach up which the solids are conveyed to be discharged from the bowl at the top of beach. Whilst the solids are conveyed up the beach, some, hopefully most of the entrained liquid drains back to the pond to join the liquid flow towards the far end.
