Jet mud mixer is used to make up drilling fluids or increase total amount of the drilling fluids, change the fluid density, viscosity, and dehydrate the drilling fluids. When the drilling fluids is made up again, we need put the materials of drilling fluids ( such as betonies and barite powder ) and corresponding chemical additives ( such as polymer ) into the recycle tank through the jet unit. If directly putting them, the materials of drilling fluids and chemical additives will largely deposit and condense together, then we can’t obtain diffused and well-proportioned drilling fluids.

Choose and install the Jet Mud Mixer

1. It need satisfy the requirements of proportioning at scene. It is generally required that mixing hopper capacity shall not be less than 150m3/h. For the larger tank and great pump motor power, we can also use the mixing hopper with 300m3/h capacity.

In order to ensure the required well pressure, we suggest that each drilling crew be equipped with a spare set of mixing hoppers, and in most cases spare hoppers uses overlap mode.

2. The return pressure of outlet pipe need moderate, overlarge return pressure will reduce the treating capacity of mixing hopper.
 

3. The gap between nozzle and venturi tube must be suitable. When optimum efficiency is reached, the gap is between 32~90mm, usually not more than 90 mm, otherwise the feeding speed of barite will be significantly reduced.

4. Another important consideration to install equipment is the required lifted height for drilling fluids. If discharge needs to enter different deck tank or a taunt tank and hopper, the mixing rate will be decreased. When the height is raised from 1.83m to 3.66m, adding rate of barite will be reduced to 17%. If the demand is increased very highly but the pump capacity is insufficient, mixing capacity will be greatly reduced.

Daily Maintenance of Jet Mud Mixer:

1. The work is to clean the feeding hopper and mixing chamber and keep the equipment neat.

2. Regular maintenance is needed.

3. Check the fasteners.

4. Check the fasteners once a month to make sure they are well tightened.

5. Fix the painting cracks timely.
