Installation and Application of Drilling Fluid Degasser and Vacuum Pump in Solids Control System

Vacuum degasser is used to remove the small entrained gas bubbles left in the mud by the mud/gas separator. These units are positioned downstream from mud/gas separators, shale shakers and mud cleaners, while hydrocyclones and centrifuges follow in the arrangement.

Installation and Application of Degasser

1. The installation site requirement is not strict, and no obvious incline on site is satisfactory.

2. Before starting, immerse ends of both drain pipe and suction pipe into the mud, or it cannot work.

3. The gas inlet of exhaust pipe is equipped with filter screen ( 40~60 meshes ) to prevent solid particles from entering the pump.

4. Before starting, open the ball valve on the water supply pipe of vacuum pump ( or take the water supply pipe of vacuum pump down, replace it with flexible pipe ), unscrew the plug of the gas-water separator, fill it with water till water overflows from the overflow mouth and screw on the plug. At last, make several turns of the coupling with hands or pipe wrench to make sure there is no deadlock or other damages in the pump, and then start it.

5. Before starting, make sure of the rotation direction of motor, there must be direction arrows on the vacuum pump and shield of main motor belts, being consistent with the rotation direction. Reverse rotation is forbidden.

6. When the working water in vacuum pump is supplied by gas-water separator, make sure that the difference in temperatures between water and surrounding may not exceed 15℃~20℃, or replace it with new cold water to guarantee the normal operation of vacuum pump.

7. After ing it, drain water out of pump and gas/water separator.

8. Users provide their own drain flexible pipe and exhaust flexible pipe.

Installation and Application of Vacuum Pump

Before installing the vacuum pump, make turns of coupling with hands to confirm whether the pump is stuck or damaged. If not, install the pump on the pump base. Before fixing the motor onto the pump base, calibrate the coaxiality of motor shaft and pump spindle, because any tidy incline of motor shaft and pump spindle can result in bearing heating and heavy abrasion of parts. Place a straight ruler on the coupling parallel, there shall be no clearance between any position of circumference and that of coupling and when all axial clearances of coupling are consistent, the requirement on coaxiality is met.
