Drilling fluid is the blood for drilling which is very importance to drilling efficiency. Accounting from many factors such as geology and oil layer, drilling mud is required to weight to satisfy ideal performance in drilling process. The following operation will focus on drilling mud weighting flows and drilling mud preparation flows.

 

Units requires in drilling mud weighting include shear pump, jet mud mixer, pill tank and dosing tank. When the drilling mud is out of the standard of required density and viscosity, drilling water would be injected to the pill tank and pressure water then is supplied to dosing tank by share pump at first. Then pills are added from the hopper under the negative pressure of the hopper. This processing method will be operated time after time, and the blade impeller cuts these polymer pills into smaller particles then these smaller particles would be averagely mixed under the processing force by mud agitator.
 

 

When the drilling mud is tested and find that viscosity and density don’t match the requirement standard, drilling pill should be made up in pill tank and then inject into dosing tank. According to drilling mud performance, discharge valve is always adjusted to control the pilling speed and with average mixture.

 

 

Generally, two centrifugal pumps, two jet mud mixers and relative piping lines are required in the drilling mud preparation. If the drilling mud preparation is operated on the platform, the following two methods are usually adopted.
 

 

Bulk material by manual. Make use of sand pump and open type jet mud mixer add bentonites into the hopper manually. The second method is to use the transferring system. No matter adopts which method, the purpose is to making up drilling mud in proper means to keep its significant performance and serve the drilling.
