Mud Agitator for Drilling Fluids Recycling System

Aug 23, 2013

A mud agitator is used in surface mud systems to suspend solids and maintain homogeneous mixture throughout the system. A mechanical agitator is driven by an explosion-proof motor, coupled to a gear box that drives the impeller shaft. The impellers ( turbines ) transform mechanical power into fluid circulation or agitation. The objective is to obtain a uniform suspension of all solids.

KOSUN Mud Agitator adopts mechanical seal and is composed of explosion-proof motor, speed reducer, motor base and blade. The connections between motor and impeller shaft is made by steel couping. The impeller is welded by four blades. KOSUN MA Series Mud Agitator is part of drilling fluids solid control equipment, which is mainly used to agitate and mix the drilling mud to prevent solid particles from settling in circulating tank. MA Series Mud Agitator adopts the turbo and worm gear-down, with the advantage of large torque transmission, smooth operation performance reliable, etc. It has two kinds of installation methods: horizontal and vertical.

Mud Agitator

KOSUN uses an impeller to mix and suspend the solids using both axial and radial flows, and by utilizing low shear mixers to suspend and mix mud additives, reduce the particle size and shear the polymer. Unlike centrifugal pumps or mud guns. KOSUN Mud Agitator has relatively low shearing capacity and low energy, so it’ s easy to operate and inexpensive to maintain. This will ensure that mud additives are homogeneously mixed to prevent dead spots. Agitators keep the active solids control system flowing even when the pumps are disengaged and keep the weighting agents in suspension.
