Submersible Slurry Pump of KOSUN for Oil Drilling Solids Control

Aug 26, 2013

submersible slurry pump ( or sub pump, electric submersible pump, that is, ESP ) is a device which has a hermetically sealed motor closely coupled to the pump body. The whole assembly is submerged in the fluid to be pumped. The main advantage of this type of pump is that it prevents pump cavitation, a problem associated with a high elevation difference between pump and the fluid surface. Submersible pumps push fluids to the surface as opposed to jet pumps which has to pull fluids. Submersible pumps are more efficient than jet pumps.

Working Principle

The submersible pumps used in ESP installations are multistage centrifugal pumps operating in a vertical position. Although their constructional and operational features underwent a continuous evolution over the years, their basic operational principle remained the same. Produced liquids, after being subjected to great centrifugal forces caused by the high rotational speed of the impeller, lose their kinetic energy in the diffuser where a conversion of kinetic to pressure energy takes place. This is the main operational mechanism of radial and mixed flow pumps.

The pump shaft is connected to the liquid/gas separator or the protector by a mechanical coupling at the bottom of the pump. Well fluids enters the pump through an intake screen and is lifted by the pumps. Other parts include the radial bearings ( bushings ) distributed along the length of the shaft providing radial support to the pump shaft turning at a high rotational speed.

Submersible Slurry Pump

KOSUN Submersible Slurry Pump is mainly used in environmental protection, new type building materials, coal washing, municipal works, thermal power generation, coal gas coking planet, refinery, mining, paper making, cement plant, food products factory and other filed to perform pumping thick oil, oil residue, dirty oil, mud, mortar, running sand and other liquids. It is also suitable for liquids with silt particle and corrosive liquid.

Features & Benefits

1. The pump shaft under the liquid has enough rigidity. No bearing is set between impeller and pump. Shaft seal is not adopted, the medium with large density solids can also be transported.

2. The pump may penetrate the liquid between 800m-2500mm under it, and may be equipped with suction pipes if necessary. Vertical motor is installed on the motor base, connected to the pump by coupling.

Since its establishment in 1992, KOSUN has been the major supplier of solids control products in the field of China’s oil & gas drilling equipment, the earliest and only one centrifuge manufacturer in five provinces in Northwest China, and the producer of the first generation high-frequency drilling fluids shale shaker in China.
